Yoga is an ancient holistic discipline that offers many benefits, the foremost of which is personal wellbeing.  Personal wellbeing can mean many things and may be different for each person.  Most people agree that personal wellness includes physical, mental and emotional comfort and stability.  Whether ones focus is developmental or therapeutic, yoga offers many tools that can be combined in an infinite number of ways to suit the unique needs, capabilities and interests of each person.

Some of the benefits of regular yoga practice include stress reduction and stress management, improved flexibility and range of motion, improved memory, concentration and mood. Yoga helps improve the functions of all bodily organs and systems including circulation, respiratory, heart, liver, kidney and bowel function.  We then eliminate toxins more efficiently while our ability to assimilate the nutrients we need to build, rebuild and sustain healthy tissue is increased.  Our energy increases and muscle tension, stiffness and fatigue are reduced.  Yoga increases muscle tone and physical fitness, can slow the aging process and has a positive effect on our mental state and sense of self-acceptance.  We gain lightness of body, mind and spirit, translating to a heighted state of health and sense of wellbeing.

The practice of therapeutic yoga helps to reduce symptoms, manage illness and promote healing for many conditions.  The following is a sample list of the conditions and illnesses for which the practice of yoga has proven positive results:
